Fire Danger, Total Fire Bans and Permits

The Bush Fire Danger Period in the Blue Mountains District concluded on 31st March 2013.

 

Permits are required in the Blue Mountains District to undertake controlled burns.

Fire Permits and Bushfire Danger Period

Where are Fire Permits Required?

 

During the Bush Fire Danger Period, landowners wishing to conduct burns are required by law to obtain a permit to burn. You must contact your local permit officer to obtain the permit.

You must also notify all adjoining landowners at least 24 hours prior to lighting any fire in the open.

The Blue Mountains District is located in the Greater Sydney Region Fire Area

The Fire Danger Rating warns of the level of bush fire threat on any given day, based on the forecast weather conditions. It is an early indicator of the potential danger, should a bush fire start.
